"The Firefighters" --- It depicts the 9/11 incident in New York. We interviewed Kenko Hamano who performed the starring Richard, the Captain of the team of the firefighters in the play.

- What is the plot of the play?

"The Firefighters" is a theatre play depicting the lives of firefighters rescuing people and their families after the terror incident on September 11th in New York. Richard is living with his wife, Clair and his daughter, Catherine. He is responsible to lead the team of firefighters as a Captain at the fire station. Just on the day when his daughter Catherine became one year old, Richard and his team encountered a major incident (9/11 terrorist attack) which they haven't yet ever experienced. To rescue the people who are left behind inside the building, they are earnestly doing rescue operations in the severe spot. Then suddenly in front of them, a lady, Rie appears. This mysterious encounter with her gives a fateful big impact on Richard and his team... After this, please enjoy at the theatre!

- What was your impression on your meeting with an actual firefighter in New York?

Last year we had an opportunity to perform "The Firefighters" in New York. Before the actual performance on the day, an ex-firefighter who actually experienced the 9/11 incident came to us and talked about the real situation of the rescue operations at that time there. That was really a life-experience which can be told about only by the person who experienced the actual scene there. I, as one of the performers of firefighters in the play felt great tense when listening to it. For this reason, I strongly felt that the performance of the message in this play to the people in New York has a meaning quite a lot.

- What is your message through your performance of Richard?

Firefighters are always ready to go rescue people whoever, if there are those who need help. For their rescue operations, there is no relation with the differences of nations, religions, and human races. We believe the firefighters are showing from their figures how stupid of us to fight each other or hurt each other because of such differences. Although we might not able to rescue people, however learning from their spirit, we would like to be those who can help each other as human beings, even there are differences among us. We firmly believe that if each of us wish to be like the firefighters, such a world could be realized for sure. We sincerely wish you watch this play and have an opportunity to think about it!

Message from the IAPG Founder, Noriko Inamori

Let's say this world is a flower garden of God, some people are roses and some others are violets each has a distinctive beauty of its own. Roses can only be roses. There are millions of different types of flowers of beautiful colors in Godfs garden. Difference makes them beautiful and is the reason for their existence.
