This time we would like to report the interview to Yukari Onishi who acted as Fatima in "The Firefighters".

Tell us about the person, Fatima.

She is an employee working at the World Trade Center, and she has faith in Islam. Her name "Fatima" shows that her parents are strong in faith and she has been brought up in such a family environment. She unexpectedly encounters the 9/11 disaster, and she tries to evacuate from the office in fire in the building, then in such situation she meets a firefighter, Richard.

Do you have anything you value or you prepared to play the role?

When I got this role, I didn't know about Islam in detail. So I went to a mosque in Tokyo and learned how to pray in Islamic way. Also I read books on Islam. I learned from the books that Islam is a merciful teaching. And I found the words of the prophet Muhammad in a words and deed book called Hadith, "You are not deserved to have faith, unless you love each other." I felt this is equivalent to the teaching of neighborly love in Christianity. There is a scene of prayer for deceased firefighters, which is embedding our wish to disappear wars under the name of God.

Do you have your favorite scene or lines in this play?

In this play you will find the lines showing the will of firefighters, "I will save anyone. That's my duty." Fatima was saved by the firefighters who have such a will, thus she noticed that the thought of firefighters, "I will love unconditionally and save people." was the same as that of God.

Do you have anything you would like to convey through this play?

We, living on the earth have various differences each other. However, like God is loving all the people, it shall be our happiness to build up a peaceful world by understanding each other and live each other. And moreover we can do it. That's what we'd like to convey. We firmly believe that any conflict caused by religions should perish from the earth, if we will never fight over some religious differences, and if we can notice the each other's outstanding points, can recognize each other, and can live with taking hands each other.

Message from the IAPG Founder, Noriko Inamori

Violence causes violence, and suppression by force produces hatred. The humans should have learned it so far. Nevertheless, the threat of war is growing again. If war break out this time, it will burn down the whole earth. Killing each other countless times, where are we humans going?
